Pretty sure that in Aramaic bible god is translated as Allah. It is not a war when only one side has an Army, tanks, f 35s and the worlds biggest military by many magnitudes as security guard. As for it being about religion, give me a f@%ing break. If your G-D condones the murder of innocent women and children then you are worshipping the wrong one.
It is about land theft and the fevered delusion of white settlers from Russia, Europe and Amalekka with religion used as a shield to hide behind as everyone sees the truth now.
Thank you. This is the most directly honest assessment of the core driver of Israeli expansionism—Jewish population hegemony in their “democracy.” Each of the “Western” nations may have had their particular policy interests (a key foothold in the Middle East, military advantages, Holocaust guilt), but they all winked at and looked away from what was clearly written: the Arab non-Jewish population within Israel was growing faster; the future majority would one day be non-Jewish. Smotrich’s statement that one day Israel will be governed by the Torah is one of the most appalling (yet unsurprising) notions uttered by a leader of the Israeli government. I wish I had been wrong when, about ten years ago, in a conversation after Shabbat services, I told our rabbi that it was pretty clear to me that Israel’s power and governance structure was very much like that of Iran. The remark was not met with an open mind.
Whatever its many flaws, Iran doesn’t commit genocides and start of aggression. I am no fan of theocracy but Iran’s government is more civilized then Israel’s
Many thanks for this profound observation of the necessity for separation of religion from the state. Even with that as a founding principle, as it is for the US (and is not for Israel), zealots will insist on blurring them together. Scratch a zealot and you will find someone who wants power, not a truly devout or wise person. Their leadership is into endless holy wars. If we want politics to work, we must avoid giving zealots political power.
In the west there is one God and one Humanity. Religious divisions are not about God but about fear and greed and Isra-el cannot be built on the shards of the Torah. Yes, in some ways the religious are playing fetch with a messiah, but the west is pretty evenly divided between secular and religious, whether Palestine, Israel or the US.
It was only in 2020 that US churchgoing religious dropped under 50% and a lot of that is Silent and Boomer gens. Currently it’s polling around 35%. Without Christian zionism, and Christian demonization of Islam, Israel was going to be a tough sell as a nation that did not provide for separation of religion and state. And when support failed, with Jews being .02% of world population and so unable to muster outside support of any significance… so would Israel fail if they could not see themselves any other way.
We have no one who can understand and enforce the wisdom of Solomon in this age, but humanity is saying “No” to Israel now. In my prayers I see Israel as the light of God in the world, and Jerusalem as the place in everyone’s heart that the ten laws are alive and well. I see a land where all the tribes gather in peace to celebrate One God, and One Humanity. Eternally.
In my prayers, I see that too.. But in Gaza, I see something very different -- an army under the Star of David, committing war crimes... That's not Zecharia's vision.
Indeed. And as with all those that set themselves up as gods, there are two remedies: millennia of exile or annihilation. It does not seem that mercy ever touches those shores.

What do you suggest people do to “refuse to let God conduct our wars, or our peace.” Do you suggest reservists refuse to serve?
Yes,
